Forms Tips
You are reading this in the test version of the Spring Fling Performance Tracker. In the production version of the Tracker, links in the left-hand menu below the entry Admin Forms will only be available to a handful of us in a special admin version.
While use of the forms is rather straightforward, you may find these tips helpful.
- If you click Reset by mistake, wiping out data you want to keep, DO NOT click Send. Instead, just exit by loading another page, and no data will be deleted in the database.
- Your browser's Back button is handy for two situations: a) retreating to make a correction if you receive an error message, and b) re-using a form by changing only one or two of several entries.
- You can temporarily suspend any participant (via an entry on that person's registration form). This reduces the data being displayed, a technique that has proven to be valuable during testing.
- Are you wanting to compare data displayed on more than one page in the Tracker? It's handy to open the Tracker in two or more different browser windows or tabs.
- Name Lookup for people's names requires a two-part real name to generate the list with the last name first (Doe, Jane ... ). In case of a real name like Mary Ann Doe, use an underline connecting the first and middle names to constrain the full name to two pieces. Thus Mary_Ann Doe.
- Pledges are per-unit, the unit being miles or hours, except for birding, which counts unique species. Be on the lookout for swimmers reporting pledges per pool length or lap. Such data will need to be converted to the per-mile equivalent (divide by 72 or 36) for use in the Tracker.
